My Favorite Rings

Stone-crusted scepters of evil immortals,
Wonderful widgets that open up portals,
Set with a crystal that glows as it sings,
These are a few of my favorite rings.

One for the dark lord and three for the elven,
Nine for mere men and for dwarven lords seven,
Dangerous quest for a hobbit that stings,
These are a few of my favorite rings.

        Where the mages
        Of past ages
        Raised great rings of stone,
I walk between worlds in that mystical ring,
And then I feel right at home!

Fine icy girdles around giant planets,
Time travel doorway all carved out of granite,
Million-mile ribbon-world shadow-square strings,
These are a few of my favorite rings.

        When the starships,
        On their long trips,
        Spin for gravity,
I look out at the stars from the habitat ring,
And there's nowhere I'd rather be!
