Marlin, a clownfish, is overprotective of his son Nemo, and scared of the open ocean, ever since his wife and 400 eggs were eaten by a shark (a scene set to traumatise the current generation the way the death of Bambi's mother did mine?). Nemo, determined to show he's no wimp, swims out to a boat -- but is captured by a diver. The rest of the plot is split between Nemo's antics trying to escape a fish tank, and Marlin's adventures as he sets out on a desperate rescue effort.

Pixar have gone for a slightly simpler story here then usual, but it's still good fun, with loads of quirky characters, witty, and brilliantly animated, like all their offerings. A lesson about personal growth, but a little more treacly than usual for Pixar (although nowhere near the Disney norm) at the end.
