R. Brent Tully.
Nearby Galaxies Catalog.
CUP. 1988

Designed as a companion to the Nearby Galaxies Atlas this catalog consists of a principal table that provides information on the 2,367 galaxies that are mapped in the atlas.

The information includes positions, morphological descriptions, sizes, luminosities, red shifts, neutrohydrogen properties, and characteristics of the environment of each galaxy. Distance estimates are given for each system, and this information allows intrinsic properties to be derived.

Entries in the catalog are reordered according to group-association-cloud assignments in a separate table. In a third table, rich clusters of galaxies at large distances are assigned to features of large-scale structure called supercluster complexes.

The Atlas was designed to appeal to a wide audience. The Catalog contains technical information that will be of particular interest to professional astronomers and serious amateurs.
