Abstract: Enterprise Computing systems are large-scale, massively distributed, heterogeneous computer systems embedded in multi-national companies or multi-divisional public-sector organisations. The purpose of such systems is to provide a single integrated information system for the entire organisation.
My research has contributed to a number of communities. In software engineering, I
have developed a novel approach that combines goal-based software engineering and
software architecture development and have applied it in a unique way to developing
EIS. In Enterprise Architecture (EA), I have contributed mechanisms for integrating
ideas from software architecture with EA standards. Finally, I have contributed to the
domains of the case studies on which I have worked, i.e., healthcare and crisis management.
I have developed a network of academic and industrial contacts, including
those in the Enterprise Systems group at the University of York, as well as EIS researchers
in France and Portugal, the goal-oriented requirements community, healthcare
specialists, and Enterprise Architects, e.g., at IBM.
