From Spring 2008, for the remainder of this academic year, we are running two pilot projects to give students more feedback about their closed exam performance. The objectives of these projects are:
The first project involves information about marks at the question level, rather than just at the paper level, and the second involves allowing students supervised access to their marked scripts. It should be emphasised that these are only pilot projects: they will be applied to a selection of modules, and the level of student takeup will be monitored.
Warnings:
Students should also note the existing procedure if they are 'unhappy' about an exam mark. This is recorded on on p75 of the latest online version of the 2007-8 Student Handbook (p74 of the paper copy).
Breakdowns of exam marks, at question level, is available on the web as follows:
A number of sessions have been organised where students will be able to inspect their marked exam scripts. Students should bring their University Card with them for identification purposes. Students will not be allowed to copy or write on scripts, nor to take them out of the room. Students are advised to bring their own copies of the question paper with them for reference. It may also be helpful to have looked at the model answers and notes on student performance for the relevant modules. These are available on the module web pages. (See below.)
The sessions are as follows:
