He received a Ph.D. in Computer
Science (Doctor en Informàtica) from the Departament de Ciències
Matemàtiques i Informàtica of the Universitat de les
Illes Balears. The abstract of his doctoral thesis "Weakly
hard Real-time systems" can be viewed (html

In Sept. 1992, he was
awarded the conference prize at the "V Certamen Nacional de Jóvenes
Investigadores" (5th National Young researchers conference) a national
competition for young researchers organised by the
Ministerio de Educación
y Ciencia
and
Dirección General de Juventud del Ministerio
de Asuntos Sociales with the project "Sistema informático de detección de objetos en
movimiento en entornos cambiantes. Una Alarma inteligente" (A computer
system for the automatic detection of moving objects under dynamic environments.
An intelligent alarm).
