Proceedings of Gesture Workshop '96
Philip A Harling and Alistair D N Edwards (Eds.)
Gesture is an important element of human interaction and is increasingly becoming feasible as a part of human-computer interation. While there is a lot of research under way, there are few possibilities for distribution of results of this work. The purpose of the workshop was to bring together researchers working on gesture-based interfaces and gestural interaction and to provide a forum for presentation and exchange of ideas and research currently in progress.
Progress in Gestural Interaction encompasses all aspects of gestural interaction, including:
Papers are presented from the UK. France, Germany, Italy, USA and Ireland to provide an international viewpoint and the book will be of interest to researchers in the fields of gestural interation, human-computer interaction, multi-modal interfaces, automatic sign language inter-pretation and pattern recognition. It could also be a useful supplementary text for courses on multi-modal human-computer interaction.
The proceedings are published by Springer Verlag, and available directly from the University of York
